Named for the drawled pronunciation of the main thoroughfare, Elm St., this area presents an eclectic mix of studios, galleries, restaurants, and bars. Deep Ellum was once a hotbed for jazz and blues in the South, frequented by cats such as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, and Bessie Smith.
Deep Ellum can be reached by: e-Frog, DART Light Rail - Green Line (board train with sign reading "Buckner") to Baylor Medical Center Station
